This occurs between 4thweek age to 6 weeks of age, can occur in new born also, exact cause not known.
What do you see – Presentation
Vomiting projectile in nature and non bilious
(only milk ), dehydration, constipation.
When I see such patients, I find…..
Sick baby with dehydration, VGP (visible gastric peristalsis) ,mass in the abdomen.
Admission in a pediatric hospital
Treat dehydration with iv fluids
Blood test, USG to confirm the Diagnosis
(pyloric canal length 14 mm & pyloric muscle thickness 4mm).
ONLY option is Surgery Laparotomy - Pylromyotomy or Laparoscopic pylromyotomy.
